The International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation was founded in 1949 by eight pharmacy student associations in London. The Federation now represents around 350,000 pharmacy students and recent graduates in 61 countries worldwide.

IPSF is a non-governmental, non-political, and non-religious organisation that aims to study and promote the interests of pharmacy students and encourage international co-operation amongst them. 

IPSF initiatives focus mainly on the areas of public health and pharmacy education.  Initiatives include public health campaigns, research on issues in pharmacy education worldwide, the Student Exchange Programme, organising international and regional congresses and symposiums, and publication of the IPSF News Bulletin and scientific supplement Phuture.

APRO (Asia Pacific Regional Office) is an IPSF Regional Office, and it works to promote the aims and spirit of IPSF in the Asia Pacific region. The regional office was first launched off 4 years ago in Singapore by active Singaporean delegates. Now, as representatives of the Asia-Pacific region, we hold an annual congress called the Asia Pacific Pharmaceutical Symposium. The first symposium was held in the same country the office was launched; Singapore, then second symposium in Taiwan, third one in Thailand, the 4th APPS in Japan with over 200 participants from 12 countries. And just lately June2006 we had the 5th APPS in Bandung, Indonesia and had a great succes. We are now working on promoting IPSF among both countries with membership and those with no membership at all. We have several means of spreading our federation. One is by APRO Circular which we distribute to pharmacy students via email. We are also working on our website. Our next step is to find more members who are interested in us and want to work with us.
